Pointr is the market leader in Indoor Mapping, Location and Analytics, and the inventor of AI-based map production. Its innovative (20+ patents) Pointr Maps™ platform is used by millions of users across offices, retail locations, airports, hospitals, and more every month.
As the top choice of Fortune 100 customers and billions of sqft. deployed globally (30+ countries), Pointr is always on the lookout for great team members to support its fast growth. Our core values are Ownership, Harmony, and Scale, and we look for Passionate, Kind, and No-Ego team members to join the team.
We're looking for a Lead Pre-Sales Engineer to join our Pre-Sales team and take the lead on technical discovery, demos, and solution design for Pointr's most complex customer opportunities. Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll work closely with Sales and Delivery, helping customers understand how our technology works, answering challenging technical questions around APIs, SDKs, and our indoor mapping and positioning solutions, and making sure what we're promising customers is something we can actually deliver.
We're looking for someone with a strong mix of technical expertise and presentation skills. Someone who can confidently handle complex integration questions while also delivering engaging live demos and presentations to senior stakeholders.
As the team grows, you'll have opportunities to share your experience and best practices with other Pre-Sales Engineers, particularly around demos, discovery, and technical problem-solving.
Lead or co-lead discovery sessions and run tailored, use-case-driven demos for complex and strategic opportunities.
Personally handle the toughest technical questions live in front of customers APIs, SDKs, integration architecture and translate them into commercial, outcome-driven language rather than deep technical detail.
Validate solution feasibility in close collaboration with Delivery, and ensure scope, assumptions, and commitments are clearly defined before deal close.
Own demo standards, demo assets, and demo environments for the Pre-Sales function.
Define documentation and handover standards from Sales to Delivery to ensure a clean transition from demo to contract to implementation.
Support Customer Advocates in articulating value and answering technical questions throughout the sales cycle.
Mentor other Pre-Sales / Solution Experts as the team grows a peer-mentorship relationship focused on demo quality and technical credibility, not day-to-day line management.
Support the hiring and onboarding of additional Pre-Sales team members as capacity is added.
Capture recurring customer feedback, objections, and technical questions from demos, and route patterns to Product and Delivery.
First 90 days: build fluency in Pointr’s technical architecture and product, and run your first customer demos alongside the CEO and Sales team.
6 months: independently owning discovery and demos for our most complex opportunities, with a measurable improvement in technical-objection handling.
12 months: fully embedded as the technical/commercial bridge between Sales and Delivery, and mentoring at least one additional Pre-Sales team member.
7–10+ years of experience in pre-sales, technical sales, or commercial solution roles within B2B SaaS environments.
Demonstrated ability to both understand deep technical concepts (APIs, SDKs, system architecture) and deliver confident, compelling live demos to prospects and senior stakeholders — this combination of technical depth and presentation skill is the most important qualification for this role.
Proven track record leading customer discovery and delivering tailored, use-case-driven demos in complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise sales cycles.
Experience working closely with engineering or delivery teams to validate feasibility, without directly owning or managing them.
Structured, detail-oriented approach to scoping and documenting commitments before deal close.
Experience mentoring, coaching, or providing functional leadership to other pre-sales or technical team members.
Comfortable operating in a start-up or high-growth environment where processes are still being shaped.
Professional fluency in English, both written and verbal.
BS or MS in a relevant technology or management field (Computer Science is a plus).
Prior exposure to location-based technologies, indoor mapping platforms, analytics, or data-driven SaaS products.
Experience working with enterprise customers across multiple verticals (e.g., healthcare, retail, workplace, events).
Supportive, kind (no-ego), and smart team
Hybrid work (2 days being in the office is required)
International environment and inclusive culture
Competitive base salary and attractive stock options
Cool and comfortable office in Boston (Back Bay) or access to WeWork in other locations
Private health care (75%) and Dental
Company-sponsored parental leave
18 days PTO, plus sick time + 12 holidays per year
401(k) retirement scheme
Base salary range: $170,000–$180,000 + bonus, based on experience and market.
