Assistant Treasurer

ABOUT EARNIN

As one of the first pioneers of earned wage access, our passion at EarnIn is building products that deliver real-time financial flexibility for people living paycheck to paycheck. Our community members access their earnings as they earn them, with options to spend, save, and grow their money without mandatory fees, interest rates, or credit checks. We’re fortunate to have an incredibly experienced leadership team, combined with world-class funding partners like A16Z, Matrix Partners, DST, Ribbit Capital, and a very healthy core business with a tremendous runway. We’re growing fast and excited to bring on world-class talent to help shape the next chapter of our growth journey.

EarnIn is becoming an AI-native company, embedding AI agents into how we build, analyze, and operate across every function. Teams use AI Agents to move from ideas to execution faster. By letting agents handle repetitive tasks, our people can focus on judgment, creativity, and hard problems. We pair this experimentation with the strict review and security guardrails our regulated financial environment requires, always keeping a focus on privacy and the people who rely on our products.

As a company, we are becoming AI-native, and we encourage you to use AI tools throughout much of your interview process. If you use AI during the live interview, just say so; a quick, natural mention of how it helped and why you are using it is all we need. What we're evaluating is your judgment, reasoning, and ability to own and defend your work, not whether AI was involved. Some rounds, particularly those focused on your career history and past experiences, will not allow the use of AI, and we'll let you know of those in advance. When in doubt, ask your recruiter or interviewer directly.

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking an Assistant Treasurer to join our lean, high-impact Treasury team and report to the Treasurer. Our Treasury team runs day-to-day cash, debt, and banking operations. This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports, but you will share leadership responsibilities as the most senior individual reporting to the Treasurer.  You will review and approve the Treasury team’s work, with enough hands-on depth to check it closely, and you will own the analytics, processes, and controls for our asset-backed warehouse facilities, corporate facility, cash, and liquidity. You will partner with the Treasurer on lender and partner negotiation, diligence, and financing execution, and with Product and Engineering on our payment rails and product rollouts. We need someone who understands the big picture, has strong financial judgment, can dig into the details, and can clearly explain issues in a highly dynamic environment to audiences across the company and external partners. Treasury experience within a FinTech or other financial institution is highly valued. As a senior individual contributor, you will also help set how Treasury uses AI.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $213,210 - $260,590 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. This position is open to hybrid applicants based in the SF Bay Area. This role will require in-office work 2-3 days a week.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Debt Operations and Capital Structure

• Review and approve advances, paydowns, and borrowing base calculations across our warehouse facilities and corporate facility, with a focus on optimizing our cost of funds
• Review daily and transactional operational reporting for lenders and backup servicer, including cash recycling, servicer reports, and allocation of assets across facilities, before it goes out
• Review and sign off on all compliance reporting; monitor covenant headroom and own debt compliance
• Partner with the Treasurer in lender and partner negotiation, diligence, and financing execution, including term sheet analysis, data room preparation, lender Q&A, legal documentation, and support for corporate development deals
• Partner with Risk and Product to ensure servicing and underwriting policy changes are reflected in eligibility criteria and lender reporting
• Ensure annual lender examinations are completed on time with no significant findings
• Partner with Engineering to develop and enhance debt-related reporting in accordance with lenders' requirements

Cash Operations and Liquidity

• Review and approve daily cash positioning and transfers to ensure proper funding, with appropriate segregation of duties
• Review and challenge short-term cash and liquidity forecasts, including back-testing and improving accuracy over time, and make liquidity decisions
• Design and oversee the control framework for cash management and payments, including maker-checker discipline, signatory governance, and bank account entitlements and KYC

Banking, Payments, and Product Partnership

• Serve as the escalation point for banking, debt, and payment partners when reporting or operational problems arise, and step in directly when needed
• Provide backup coverage for cash, debt, and payment operations when members of the Treasury team are out
• Review monitoring of product-related money movement across our payment rails (ACH, debit, RTP, FedNow) and decide on escalations quickly
• Partner with the Treasury Manager to diversify and optimize payments relationships
• Partner with Engineering and Product on the design, changes, and troubleshooting of our payment rails, covering funding flows, settlement timing, returns and exceptions, and liquidity impact
• Provide the Treasury perspective on new product launches and product changes: funding needs, cash timing, and facility eligibility
• Assist the Money Platform team on payment-related projects

Projects

• Partner with the Treasurer to define and own Treasury's AI roadmap: choose 2-3 high-value workflows (for example: covenant monitoring, lender reporting, or forecasting), build them, and measure the time saved
• Evaluate whether to invest further in Kyriba or whether AI-enabled workflows can replace it, and recommend a path forward
• Lead efforts to update our asset-backed debt operations process to finance new products and support product evolution
• Work with the Accounting team to implement a cash reconciliation tool for all entities and bank accounts

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required

• [8+] years of progressive experience in treasury, capital markets, or structured finance at a financial services company or high-growth startup, preferably in fintech
• Hands-on experience with warehouse, securitization, or forward-flow facilities, including borrowing bases, lender reporting, and covenant compliance
• Deep operational understanding of debt, cash, and banking processes, enough to review others' work closely, catch errors, and step in when needed
• Experience supporting credit agreement amendments, new facility diligence, and financing execution alongside a Treasurer or head of capital markets
• Payment operations experience, or at least solid familiarity with ACH, debit, and instant payment rails, enough to partner effectively with Engineering and Product
• Strong financial modeling and Excel expertise
• Commercial judgment: able to defend decisions by their impact on cost of funds, P&L, and liquidity
• Working knowledge of treasury controls (maker-checker, signatory governance, KYC) and audit expectations
• AI fluency: builds and scales AI-enabled Treasury workflows and evaluates tradeoffs between AI tooling and our treasury management system (Kyriba)
• Clear written and verbal communication with executives, lenders, and bank partners
• Ability to excel in a dynamic, often ambiguous environment, and to be a collaborative partner on a lean team

Preferred

• Hands-on payment operations experience (returns, exceptions, settlement, reconciliation) and familiarity with bank integration methods (H2H, SFTP, APIs, ISO 20022)
• Kyriba or similar treasury management system experience; NetSuite exposure
• CTP, CFA, CPA, or MBA
• Passion for the fintech industry
