Base is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.
Base is hiring a Supplier Industrialization Engineer to make sure our suppliers can build Base parts at quality, cost, and rate. We want to know our suppliers' lines as well as our own factories. You'll qualify suppliers, ramp their lines from prototype to mass production, and bring the supplier's view into design reviews.
Ramp supplier lines from early prototype to full production: equipment, staffing, and process.
Size up new suppliers for capability and long-term fit with Base.
Work directly with suppliers to design and optimize their manufacturing processes so they scale without losing quality.
Audit facilities, processes, and quality systems during supplier qualification.
Represent the supplier in design-for-manufacturability reviews.
Map supplier processes to find capacity bottlenecks before they limit us.
Build should-cost models of supplier manufacturing to guide Base's investment in suppliers.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
2+ years in supplier industrialization, supplier quality, or manufacturing engineering, ideally in consumer electronics, automotive, or industrial.
Hands-on high-volume manufacturing experience.
Working knowledge of several processes: injection molding, CNC machining, PCB/PCBA, stamping, and assembly.
Ability to run several initiatives at once and hit deadlines.
Willingness to travel often. The best supplier relationships are built face to face.
Manufacturing line design and capital cost estimating.
APQP, PPAP, SPC, and 8D/RCCA.
Embedding on-site with suppliers through NPI and ramp.
Battery, power electronics, or electromechanical assemblies.
Our supplier industrialization team makes sure suppliers can build Base parts at quality, cost, and rate. We qualify suppliers, stand up their lines, and solve the hard problems between prototype and mass production, then feed what we learn back to design. Homeowners across the country rely on Base for whole-home backup and lower electricity bills. Our network of home batteries also helps keep the grid stable as demand climbs from AI, electrification, and extreme weather. We build in-house and expand at a speed and cost incumbents can't match, and this team makes that possible.
Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.

Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.
Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.
Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.
Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.
