Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Tax Specialist to join our dynamic finance team. Responsibilities
- Prepare and review corporate, individual, and partnership tax returns with precision and accuracy, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Conduct detailed tax research on issues such as estate planning, securities law, LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), and other relevant areas to inform strategic decisions.
- Assist in tax planning initiatives including mergers & acquisitions, estate planning, and complex financial transactions to optimize tax benefits.
- Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls related to tax processes and reporting.
- Collaborate with internal teams on financial report writing, interpretation of financial statements, and technical accounting matters including GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory reporting.
- Support audit activities by providing documentation, explanations, and reconciliations related to tax accounts and financial statements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving tax laws and regulations affecting the organization’s operations across multiple jurisdictions.
- Use advanced accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar tools for accurate bookkeeping, balance sheet reconciliation, account analysis, and financial statement preparation.
- Communicate effectively with clients and internal stakeholders regarding complex tax issues while providing clear guidance on compliance requirements.
Experience
- Proven experience in corporate accounting or public accounting with a focus on tax accounting or tax compliance.
- Extensive knowledge of federal and state tax laws including individual tax, corporate tax expertise, estate planning, Wills & Trusts law, auditing standards, and regulatory compliance accounting.
- Demonstrated ability to handle complex tax return preparation for various entities including non-profits and private equity firms.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts such as debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, asset management, budgeting, and financial analysis.
- Experience working with accounting software like QuickBooks, Sage, Xero or similar platforms for general ledger reconciliation and financial report interpretation.
- Excellent analysis skills with a keen eye for detail in account reconciliation and financial statement review.
- Effective client communication skills coupled with the ability to explain technical accounting concepts clearly.
- Background in securities law or investment-related taxation is a plus but not mandatory.

Pay: $94,700.00 - $115,000.00 per year
