Role description
GoodstackIf you’ve been looking to join a fast-growing startup with a bold vision of a world where doing good is built into everything we do, then you’ve found the right place.
Backed by General Catalyst, the same investors behind Stripe and Airbnb, we’re building something truly extraordinary.
Our Mission
Our mission at Goodstack is to revolutionize how the world does good 🌎.
As a fast growth, AI-native social impact startup, we power global change through technology. We enable companies to seamlessly integrate positive impact into what they do through a unified platform while supporting nonprofits in gaining access to cutting-edge technology and finding new funding streams.
Global brands, including Google, OpenAI, TikTok, LinkedIn, HSBC, Atlassian and Twilio - as well as thousands of nonprofits, including the Red Cross, Cancer Research, and Oxfam - use Goodstack to make a difference.
In 2025 alone, we facilitated $5 billion in donations to good causes. But this is just the beginning. We're building the world’s leading platform that powers donations to nonprofits globally.
To keep our momentum and deliver consistently high value to our partners, we need incredible people to help us on our journey – we need you 🫵
Join us as Grant Writer to act as our lead Expert Reviewer!
We’re looking for an exceptionally thoughtful, detail-driven Grant Writer to lead high-quality grant research, writing and review for our nonprofit partners.
You’ll help nonprofits access more funding, faster – identifying relevant opportunities, shaping strong applications and making sure every draft is accurate, compelling and genuinely useful.
If you have a strong grant writing background, enjoy turning complex programme information into clear funding narratives, and want your work to support organisations doing meaningful social impact work, this could be the perfect role for you.
As a Grant Writer, your mission will be to:
Research funding opportunities: Identify, evaluate and curate relevant grants tailored to each organisation’s mission, programmes, eligibility and funding needs.
Draft excellent applications: Write compelling LOIs, grant applications and supporting narratives aligned to funder requirements.
Use AI to increase quality and pace: Confidently prompt, guide and review AI-assisted outputs to accelerate research, drafting and iteration without compromising accuracy, judgement or tone.
Act as lead expert reviewer: Review drafts so they are accurate, persuasive, funder-ready and easy for nonprofits to use.
Manage delivery: Balance pace, quality and care across multiple partner relationships, keeping work moving and expectations clear.
Build deep context: Work closely with around 25–30 nonprofit partners at any given time, understanding their goals, programmes and impact.
Improve how we work: Help strengthen our grant support process so we can serve more nonprofits well, without compromising quality.
After 3 months, success will look like:
Producing high-quality grant drafts at a consistent pace.
Nonprofit partners feel supported, understood, and confident in the work they receive.
Funding opportunities are well-matched, relevant, and clearly explained.
AI is used thoughtfully to improve speed, consistency, and quality.
Drafts are accurate, thoughtful, and tailored to each funder.
Risks, blockers, or deadline concerns are raised early.
Our grant support process becomes clearer, stronger, and easier to scale.
This role is a perfect match for you if you have:
5 years’ grant writing experience, ideally for nonprofits, charities or mission-led organisations (with specific experience winning Australian grants).
Understanding of funding landscapes, eligibility criteria, funder priorities and what makes a proposal competitive.
Ability to turn rough context into specific, persuasive, funder-ready narratives.
Confidence using AI tools to support research, drafting, editing and quality assurance, and know where human judgement must lead.
Ability to take responsibility, communicate early, and enjoy building in a fast-moving environment.
Attention to detail; Deadlines, geographic nuances, funding restrictions and structural requirements do not slip past you.
Partner-first communication; You combine warmth, clarity, and sound judgement in every interaction.
Process discipline; Enjoy clear systems, well-managed workflows, and making the slightly messy feel beautifully organised.
Bonus if you have knowledge or love of:
A degree from a recognised university, or equivalent evidence of strong analytical thinking.
Nonprofit fundraising, philanthropy or corporate social impact.
