About the company
A seed-stage AI startup, founded in 2024, building a platform that lets organizations run their own AI instead of depending on a single model vendor.
The product routes requests across hundreds of open and closed source models, can be hosted wherever the customer wants (on their own machines or in their own cloud), and pairs a chat interface with enterprise agents that complete real tasks like paying an invoice or kicking off a hire.
The team already sells worldwide to roughly 100 customers, from venture-backed startups to large public companies, and is backed by a well-known accelerator and several venture funds. The role You'll be the engineer who gets the product running inside customer environments and keeps it running.
That means configuring and debugging deployments with customer teams, sometimes from the customer's own office, and acting as the technical counterpart to sales and account leads while a deal turns into a live rollout. When a deployment exposes a gap in the product, you'll go into the core codebase and fix it yourself.
Deployments happen globally, and the team has recently sent engineers on-site to customers in the Middle East and Europe. What you'll do
- Deploy the platform inside customer infrastructure, on-site when a rollout calls for it
- Work hands-on with customer engineering and IT teams to configure, troubleshoot, and improve their implementations
- Act as the technical lead alongside sales and account leads on customer deployments
- Own each deployment from first install through resolution of every open issue
- Ship changes to the core product when a customer deployment needs them
- Travel to customer sites around the world, including stays of a week or more
What you must bring
- 1+ years of professional engineering experience at a high-growth or venture-backed startup
- Solid software engineering fundamentals and the ability to contribute real code to a core product
- A track record of deploying, troubleshooting, and operating software inside a customer's environment
- Comfort switching between customer-facing implementation work and heads-down engineering in the same week
- The ability to explain technical problems and tradeoffs clearly to customer stakeholders who aren't engineers
- A habit of working autonomously and taking on broad responsibility in a fast-moving team
- Willingness to travel internationally to customer sites, sometimes for extended on-site work
Nice to have
- Experience building on or deploying an AI-native product
- Prior on-site work with customers or global deployments
- Founder experience, including a venture that didn't work out
- Nontraditional education or career paths are welcome when paired with strong engineering ability and a clear area of depth
Compensation & logistics
- $180K to $300K base salary plus 0.1% to 0.5% equity
- Benefits include health, medical, and dental coverage, relocation assistance, and a company apartment to help new hires move to the city
- On-site in San Francisco, CA. The schedule is 9am to 9pm, six days a week
- Regular global travel to customer sites
- Open to visa sponsorship
This isn't the right fit if
- You want a pure coding role with little or no direct customer contact
- You lean on AI-generated code without understanding the systems underneath it
- You haven't yet worked autonomously in a fast-moving startup
- You're not able to work in person in San Francisco at this intensity or travel internationally
- You'd rather hand off a deployment than stay on-site until it's done
