About the job

We are looking to expand our team of expert consultants with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Engineers and Simulation Scientists specializing in consumer electronics for part-time, fully remote work supporting frontier AI research. Projects start at $90–150 USD / hour, and the bracket can be flexible depending on the task and your level of experience.

This role includes evaluating and pressure-testing leading AI models on expert-level FEA and mechanical simulation knowledge, creating and verifying graduate-level problems and worked solutions, and assessing whether AI-generated engineering reasoning meets the standards of an experienced simulation engineer working in consumer electronics product development.

Who We’re Looking For

You are an engineer or scientist with 3+ years of hands-on finite element analysis experience applied to consumer electronics products — smartphones, laptops, tablets, wearables, headphones, displays, gaming peripherals, smart home devices, or related hardware. You have direct experience using at least one major FEA platform (Abaqus, ANSYS, LS-DYNA, COMSOL, Altair HyperWorks, or equivalent) and deep knowledge of one or more of the following areas: Structural FEA for consumer electronics enclosures, chassis, and assemblies; Drop and impact simulation using explicit solvers; Thermomechanical analysis and thermal management simulation; Vibration, fatigue, and durability analysis; Material modeling and characterization for electronics materials; Display, touch sensor, or flexible electronics simulation; Nonlinear FEA and large-deformation analysis; or Test-simulation correlation and model validation.

Ideal backgrounds include

• FEA engineers and CAE engineers at consumer electronics OEMs, including Apple, Samsung, Google, Microsoft, Sony, Dell, HP Inc., Lenovo, Meta Reality Labs, Amazon, ASUS, Razer, Logitech, Bose, and similar companies
• Simulation engineers and application engineers at engineering consulting firms serving the consumer electronics industry, including Exponent, DfR Solutions, Stress Engineering Services, ATA Engineering, and MAYA HTT
• Application engineers and solutions engineers at simulation software companies including Dassault Systèmes SIMULIA, Altair Engineering, Hexagon, and Synopsys (formerly ANSYS)
• Mechanical and structural simulation engineers at component companies and EMS providers with consumer electronics FEA programs

Minimum Qualifications

• Fluent English reading and writing skills
• Based in the United States
• BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics, Materials Science, or a closely related engineering discipline
• 3+ years of hands-on FEA experience in a hardware, product development, or engineering consulting environment
• Proficiency in at least one major FEA platform (Abaqus, ANSYS, LS-DYNA, COMSOL, Altair HyperWorks, or equivalent)
• Direct experience with consumer electronics products or hardware simulation
• Currently practicing as an engineer, researcher, or consultant in a relevant field
