Growth Strategy Lead, Customer Acquisition

The Role

The way B2B buyers discover and evaluate companies is changing quickly. Search is expanding beyond Google, AI is reshaping how people find information, and the traditional playbook for generating organic demand is becoming less reliable.

Middesk is looking for a Growth Strategy Lead to determine how we attract, engage, and convert more of the right customers through organic and earned channels. You’ll evaluate opportunities across SEO, AEO, content, brand, social, partnerships, and events; identify where Middesk should invest; and build a cohesive strategy that turns awareness into qualified demand and pipeline.

This is not a traditional channel-specialist role. You’ll approach customer acquisition like a general manager: starting with the business outcome, diagnosing the biggest opportunities, making informed investment decisions, mobilizing the right resources, and taking accountability for results.

You may come from management consulting, growth strategy, business operations, general management, or a broad marketing role. Regardless of your path, you’ll need strong commercial instincts, fluency across modern marketing channels, and the ability to move between high-level strategy and hands-on execution.

Hybrid

We follow a hybrid work model, with an expectation of spending 2 - 3 days per week in our NYC or San Francisco office. Candidates should live within commuting distance of one of these locations, as we believe in the value of in-person collaboration while also supporting flexibility.

What You’ll Do

• Own the strategy for growing qualified customer acquisition through organic and earned channels
• Evaluate opportunities across SEO, AEO, content, brand, social, partnerships, community, and events
• Identify the highest-leverage growth opportunities and translate them into a clear roadmap, investment plan, and measurable goals
• Develop a holistic understanding of Middesk’s buyers, including how they discover solutions, evaluate vendors, and move through the buying journey
• Partner with content, product marketing, design, sales, and subject-matter experts to bring integrated growth programs to life
• Direct internal specialists, agencies, and other external resources while maintaining accountability for the overall strategy
• Establish reporting that connects awareness, engagement, and organic acquisition to qualified inbound demand and pipeline
• Design and run experiments, assess performance, and determine where to increase investment, change direction, or stop
• Bring a forward-looking perspective on how AI is changing search, content, buyer research, and customer acquisition
• Develop a point of view on the team, capabilities, tooling, and resources Middesk will need as the function grows

What We’re Looking For

• A strategic, commercially minded operator who can approach customer acquisition as a broad business problem
• A track record of owning a meaningful business outcome, such as customer acquisition, pipeline, revenue, market expansion, or growth
• Experience turning an ambiguous problem into a clear strategy, operating plan, and set of measurable goals
• Strong analytical judgment and the ability to make thoughtful investment and prioritization decisions
• Working fluency across modern marketing channels, including search, content, brand, social, events, partnerships, or community
• An understanding of how marketing channels work together to influence awareness, consideration, demand, and conversion
• The ability to effectively lead and evaluate channel experts without needing to be the deepest specialist in every discipline
• A hands-on approach—you’re comfortable developing the strategy while staying close enough to execution to move the work forward
• Strong cross-functional leadership and experience mobilizing internal teams, specialists, agencies, or external partners
• Comfort operating in a fast-moving environment without an established playbook
