Product Designer

About Sirona Medical

At Sirona Medical, we’re building software that enables physicians to work as fast as they can think.

Each year in the U.S., billions of patient images are captured—and nearly all of them are reviewed and diagnosed by radiologists. These specialists are the central hub of diagnostic medicine: over 80% of all healthcare data flows through radiology IT systems. Yet despite their pivotal role, radiologists are overburdened by outdated, fragmented software which limits their efficiency and ultimately the quality and efficiency of care that health systems can provide patients. That’s where Sirona comes in.

We’re a San Francisco-based, cloud-native software company with employees around the world. Our deep understanding of both the practice and business of radiology has allowed us to build RadOS—a unified, AI-powered operating system powering the entire radiology workflows.

How Sirona Solves the Problem

Sirona is uniquely positioned to transform the way radiology is practiced. We're delivering the organizational shift that both individual radiologists and entire practices urgently need:

• A unified, intuitive, and platform-agnostic solution
• A streamlined workspace that makes every part of the radiologist’s workflow faster and easier
• The freedom to read from anywhere, for anyone

By cutting clicks, optimizing diagnostic time, and unlocking efficiencies that extend far beyond the reading room into all care settings, Sirona empowers radiologists—and in doing so, we help the entire healthcare system move faster, smarter, and with greater impact on patient outcomes.

We're growing our design team and looking for an early-career Product Designer who believes that a deep understanding of users is the foundation of good design. You'll join a small, senior team and learn the craft of designing for complex, high-stakes software, with real ownership from early on. This role reports to the Director of Product.

Our preference is for candidates based in Burlington, VT or the San Francisco Bay Area so they can work in a hybrid model, splitting time between the Sirona office and their home office.

Radiologists repeat the same workflows hundreds of times a day, so small improvements compound across a shift. You'll spend most of your time exploring problems, sketching, prototyping, and testing alongside clinicians, researchers, engineers, and product managers who are at the top of their fields. You'll start with well-scoped problems, paired with a senior designer, and take on larger pieces of core workflows as you ramp.

No radiology background is needed. We'll invest in getting you up to speed clinically, and we care more about curiosity and design fundamentals than a long resume.

Key Responsibilities:

• Speak for the user, bringing context and detail from research and observation into product decisions
• Work with product management, engineering, and clinical colleagues to define, prototype, test, and refine solutions
• Sketch, wireframe, and prototype at low and high fidelity in Figma, moving quickly from idea to something testable
• Use AI tools like Claude to speed up exploration and build working prototypes, then test them with clinicians and refine them with your own judgment
• Take part in user research and usability sessions, and turn what you learn into design changes
• Work through information architecture, interface, and interaction patterns for dense, desktop-first workflows
• Hand off cleanly to engineering with organized, annotated, well-documented designs
• Review shipped work (design QA) to confirm it matches the intent
• Contribute components and documentation to Sirona's in-house design system
• Give and receive feedback in regular design critiques, and explain the reasoning behind your decisions

Key Requirements:

• Curiosity: the most important trait we look for. You ask why, dig into how people actually work, and enjoy learning a complex domain
• Strong Figma skills: we expect proficiency even at the entry level, since Figma is our primary design tool. That includes components, auto layout, and prototyping
• Comfort with AI tools: you're comfortable using tools like Claude to help build prototypes
• Collaboration: you work well with others, ask for input early, and value feedback, giving it back thoughtfully
• Design rationale: you can explain the reasoning behind your design decisions, in conversation and in writing
• User research: some familiarity with research methods to help drive the discovery phase. We'll provide plenty of support here
• Solid grounding in UX fundamentals: user flows, information architecture, interaction design, usability, and accessibility

Preferred Requirements:

• 0 to 2 years of professional experience in UX or product design, including internships, apprenticeships, freelance, or substantial project work
• A portfolio that shows your process end to end (problem, exploration, iteration, outcome) for at least two web or desktop application projects. Student and personal projects are welcome
• Bachelor's degree in design, HCI, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Internship or project experience in healthcare, MedTech, or another complex, expert-user domain
• Experience with data-dense or desktop-first interfaces
• Exposure to design systems, whether using or contributing to one
• Familiarity with AI or machine learning driven product experiences
• Comfort reading basic front-end concepts (HTML/CSS, component libraries) to collaborate smoothly with engineers
• Experience running or supporting usability tests

Benefits

• Stock
• Competitive salaries
• Flexible Paid Time Off (PTO)
• Medical, dental, vision insurance
• Life insurance
• Maternity and Paternity Leave
• 401(k) matching
• Apple equipment
• Sponsorship for conferences, continuing education
• Mentorship from senior designers and exposure to an international team of scientists, engineers, and clinicians
• Meaningful work: your designs help physicians diagnose patients faster
